Aransas wildlife refuge

Lisa and I went to Aransas wildlife refuge last weekend, at the gulf coast. We rode our bikes all around the refuge, and saw long-legged wading birds (herons, cranes), and we found an armadillo who stopped digging for long enough for us take his picture. While eating lunch by a pond, we watched some coots swimming, which are sort of like ducks. Suddenly one coot disappeared with a big splash when a large alligator attacked it from below. I thought it was sad because the coot's mate kept paddling around where the alligator was. I guess I prefer romantic comedies over tragedies. But I suppose alligators have to eat, too.
